Induction Heater – Little Master

Any bearing can be conveniently heated and mounted. Small and medium sized bearings upto 20-25mm I.D. can be COLD mounted using a Bearing Fitting Kit but ANY BEARING having I.D. of 40mm or MORE MUST NEVER BE COLD MOUNTED.Ref. Fig 1 Please understand bearings can cause SCORING ON SHAFTS Ref. Fig 2 thus DAMAGING the shaft.

This happens because bearings are hard (60-62 Rc) whereas shafts are generally soft. Moreover Forcing Bearing on shaft manually or hydraulically can cause INTERNAL DAMAGE TO BEARING. Ref Fig 3. As the bearing I.D. increases beyond 40mm the INTERFERENCE between bearing/shaft is high and hence it is MANDATORY TO DO HOT MOUNTING. Ref. Fig 4 Heating causes the necessary expansion of bearing /coupling avoiding damage to both shaft and bearing.

Conventionally many industries have been doing COLD MOUNTING of medium/large bearings since OIL BATH HEATING is RISKY, CUMBERSOME, TIME TAKING AND INACCURATE.

INDUCTION HEATERS ARE FAST, SAFE, VERY ACCURATE, VERY CONVENIENT and it is the way the “WHOLE WORLD WORKS”. LIFE OF BEARINGS AND OTHER ROTATING MACHINES WOULD CONSIDERABLY IMPROVE BY USING INDUCTION HEATERS.

Notes :
  • 1) Power Varies with input voltage, size of yoke used. Smaller the yoke higher the current drawn
  • 2) Yoke Ø is 2/3 mm smaller than bearing I.D. All bearings having bore more than the biggest yoke will be heated with this Yoke. E.g. EE25 All bearings 75 mm and above upto 150 I.D. will be heated in 73 Ø Yoke.
  • 3) Normally bearings are heated upto 110-120° C
  • 4) Heating time depends on Shape, Size weight and metallurgy of component. In most models the biggest bearing would get heated in 10 minutes (max.) gears and couplings would take higher amount of time.
  • 5) You may need to select 02 models to cover your entire range eg. 1 EE-8 and EE-60
